Theresa | Beyond the Headshot
Professional Portraits with Personality
I’ve been photographing my best friend Theresa for nearly 17 years, so when she came to visit and help prepare my son’s nursery before he was born, we figured it was the perfect opportunity to update her headshots.
The cherry orchard next to my house had already finished blooming for the season, but the rows of trees still provided a beautiful backdrop. We took advantage of the natural light and used a shallow depth of field to separate Theresa from the background, creating soft bokeh while keeping the focus on her expression.
Having photographed Theresa for so many years, I already knew how to make her feel comfortable in front of the camera. We started with traditional headshot posing, making small adjustments to her posture, angles, and expression to create polished, professional portraits. Once we had those shots, we loosened things up and incorporated more movement and candid moments.
I love sessions that allow for a little creativity beyond the traditional headshot. The combination of natural light, environmental portraits, and relaxed posing gave us a gallery that felt professional without losing Theresa’s personality.
