Evelyn’s First Birthday
A spring session with a special guest
Sometimes the weather has other plans! We originally scheduled Evelyn’s first birthday photos in March, but the chilly Utah spring weather wasn’t quite what her mom had envisioned for the session. We decided to try again in May, when the temperatures were warmer and Evelyn could comfortably enjoy some time with her family’s horse.
The second time around, we had beautiful weather, taller grass, and even got to include Evelyn’s dad! We started with a few portraits in the barn before heading into the field. The tall grass created a soft, natural foreground, while the mountains, still holding onto some snow from Utah’s wild winter, made the perfect backdrop.
Like most one year olds, Evelyn needed a little time to warm up to the camera. We kept things relaxed and let her interact naturally with her parents and the horse, capturing some sweet smiles and candid moments along the way.
I loved being able to incorporate a location that was meaningful to her family while using the natural landscape to create a gallery that felt personal and true to them.
